How Much Toilet Paper Does the Average Person Use?

There is no universal “average” that fits every household, because paper use varies with product size, bathroom habits, household size, and plenty of other factors.

A simple household estimate

For a rough planning number, choose an estimated rolls-per-person-per-week figure, multiply it by the number of people in the household, then multiply by 52 weeks.

Annual rolls = people × rolls per person per week × 52

Example: 2 people using 1.5 rolls each per week would be about 156 rolls per year.

Why the number varies

Rolls are not standardized in the way a gallon or kilogram is. Sheet count, sheet size, ply, household behavior, guests, and product preferences all affect consumption.
